Tennis

29th March 2021; The LTA has updated its permitted tennis activity grid that sets out what activity is allowed from this date. The grid can be accessed here – https://www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/news/2021/summary-grid—permitted-tennis-activity.pdf
As with everything, social distancing measures remain in place and social tennis is limited to the rule of six. We would ask you to review the LTA grid before booking and playing.
In light of this guidance, we wanted to provide you with some information on how we will get started:
1. The MMM booking system is still required to be in place for all court bookings. The system will be made available from next Monday 22nd March, to allow bookings to be made from Monday 29th March.
2. We are initially anticipating high demand for court bookings. We therefore ask that members show consideration to all by limiting a booking to a maximum of two (2) 45 minute sessions at one time and to cancel a booking if you are unable to use it. This will ensure that there is sufficient capacity to accommodate likely demand.   The Tennis Committee will be monitoring the system to ensure that these requests are respected.  Please note that the system has been modified and will no longer accept bookings with a single name.  You will need to name two players for singles and 4 players for doubles in order to proceed with the booking.
3. Club Play will restart from Monday 29th March on courts 4-6 and 8-10. Sessions will be available to book on MMM From Monday 22nd March. The box leagues will also be running from 29th March.
4. Term time junior group coaching will resume on 19th April, details to follow. There are also some spaces left on Easter Camp, please email Pete for details at peterlaverytennis@live.com.
5. The disabled toilet inside the main clubhouse door will be available for use as previously, along with the outside toilet. The rest of the clubhouse remains closed at this time and we would ask all members to respect this. The floodlights are now linked to MMM and will start automatically for each booked session where lights are required.
If you have yet to renew your membership and would like to do so before the 29th, please log onto MMM to do this.
We look forward to seeing you on the court very soon!

Squash

Please read the English Squash Guide for further the latest information.

I am pleased to announce that following the further lifting of restrictions, as from Monday 17th May additional access will be allowed to the Clubhouse, squash courts and changing rooms.

Bar
The Bar will be opening Monday to Friday from 6.00pm until 10.30pm and Saturday from 5.30 until 8pm, subject to demand, with table service at the outside tables and in the function room.  Masks should be worn when entering the function room until seated and the rule of 6 will still apply.

Squash
The Squash Committee are excited to announce that from Monday 17 May, you can play full court squash with different households. This means you can play multiple households without having to form a squash bubble or play modified versions.

What can we play?

  • Adults and juniors from different households can play full court squash – e.g best of five games with tie breaks, and singles and doubles.
  • Up to four adults or juniors can get on court at any time allowing for doubles.

Do I have to follow any safety protocols?
Yes. You must continue to observe current UK Government advice on COVID-19 for your own health and safety, and everyone at your club/venue. Key things to remember are:

  • Maintain social distancing off court.
  • Wear a face covering off court.
  • Wash your hands before and after you play.
In the interim courts will remain on the same time table with breaks between bookings.
The committee will look to start league competitions ASAP
Changing Rooms/Toilets
The changing rooms will also be opening again from Monday.  However, numbers will be restricted to 3 people at any one time in the Men’s showers and 2 people in the Ladies showers.  The men’s toilets will be restricted to one in one out.   Masks should be worn whilst accessing the toilets and changing rooms.

Outside Table Tennis
Outside table tennis will be made available from Monday 7th June (following the end of the Open Junior Tournament in half term week) but players must use their own bats and bring their own balls and there should be not sharing of bats.

Please enjoy the use of our facilities but continue to take care and stay safe.

Regards,

Club Committee and Squash Committee
