Emergency First Aid Training

Some 40 members of the tennis and squash club turned out on Wednesday 10th January to attend a training session for emergency first aid at the club.

We owe huge thanks to our member Andy Weatherill, a Community First Responder (CFR) for organising this session.

Andy was accompanied by another CFR, John Chapman and Dave Cave, Assistant Community Engagement Officer and they set up three sessions to cover the following emergency situation for adults, children and babies with groups rotating to cover CPR, Choking and Strokes.

These sessions, using dummies and the clubs CPR unit, which is sited at the entry to the bar, included both demonstrations and the chance for members to try it for themselves.

All CFRs are volunteers, assisting the Ambulance Service by attending what are often life-threatening in the area where they live.  As they are local, they can often reach emergency in the first few vital minutes before the ambulance arrive.

To fund the cost of these services, South Central Ambulance Charity raises funds to support South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS). All the monies raised by the Charity are used to fund services, projects and equipment that is not supplied by Government NHS funding.

Without the money raised people in our communities would have to wait longer for help which could affect their recovery. The session was provided free of charge to the club but they would be delighted if you were to donate to the Charity whether you where there or not.
