Our Aim: Simply, it is to make it possible for anyone who wants to play and enjoy tennis to do so. We have 11 courts, (currently 4 Tiger Turf, 5 Claytex carpet, 2 Lano Grand Glay), 7 of which are floodlit, an active playing membership and excellent coaching support. We are proud to be a members’ club, that is, one run by members for members and not a profit driven business. In practical terms, this means providing tennis at every level and for players of all ages.
Team Tennis: The Tennis Section provides plenty of opportunities for competitive matches against other clubs for players of all ages and abilities throughout the year. We have five Men’s and five Ladies teams as well as Mixed, Mixed Medley and Veterans leagues and compete in the Bucks Shield and Aylesbury and District League.
The matches are midweek (most start at 7pm, though there are some during the day) and at the weekend and they generally take about two and a half to three hours to play. The midweek and weekend teams are separate, so you can play in either or both depending on your availability.
The vet’s leagues are for over 45s (men) and over 40 (ladies) – supervets are over 55.
If you are keen to play club matches you can contact one of the following to help find the right team for your level:
· Ladies captain: Louise Dobby (louise.dobby@hotmail.co.uk)
· Men’s captain: Jonathan Grant (07841 567014)
· Tennis coaches: Matt Reid (07825 199232) or Adam Chambers (07921 553841)
· A member of the Tennis Committee.
Social Tennis: This is effectively the “heartbeat” of the Tennis Section and thrives every weekend and during the week (predominantly Monday and Wednesday evenings) where you just turn up and play. We even supply the balls for these sessions within the price of your membership!
Juniors: They are the future and the club continues to invest heavily in developing junior tennis. We now have over 300 juniors with a many squads and coaching sessions organized and managed by the Club’s Director of Tennis Matt Reid and his team. Our tennis section has been Clubmark accredited by the LTA since 2009 and is a recognised mini-tennis centre. The Club is one of the few in Bucks to have a proper, dedicated mini-tennis zone, which sits behind courts 10 and 11. Several of our juniors have been selected for county and national development squads.
Social Events: The club is set in pleasant surroundings and has a well-appointed clubhouse, with bar and catering facilities where various events are held, organized by the Club Entertainments Committee.
